Before turning to writing full-time, he worked as a fly-fishing guide in Oregon's Coast Range mountains. Whiskey When We’re Dry, his fourth book and third novel, was an Indie Next Pick, a Los Angeles Times Bestseller, and was named a Best Book by O Magazine, Goodreads, Entertainment Weekly, Powell's, and others. It is currently being developed for a feature film. He lives on a small farm outside of Bellfountain, Oregon.
